Hotel Excellence Awards Honor Hospitality Industry Achievements

January 28, 2014 (New York, NY): On Monday evening, January 27, 2014, the 2013 Hotel Excellence Awards (HEA) program was held at the iconic Cipriani Wall Street and hosted by IN New York & Where, a multi-media publishing company-in cooperation with the Hotel Association of New York City, Inc. and the New York City Association of Hotel Concierges.
The HEA program recognizes the qualities and characteristics that define superior service and achievement in New York City's hospitality industry. More than 600 of the Hospitality Industry's finest were in attendance to share in the festivities.
The Hotel Excellence Awards is comprised of the Hotel Experience Awards, which recognizes hotels in six categories, which are selected by the readers of IN New York magazine; and the Silver Plume Awards, which honor and recognize exemplary customer service in the Hotel Concierge and General Manager community, as chosen by their peers.

The night also saw Drew and Tracy Nieporent, Owner/Director of Marketing, respectively, and Partners of Myriad Restaurant Group receive the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award, which is given each year to an individual(s) or organization that demonstrates exceptional achievement in their field and outstanding contributions to New York City's hospitality industry. Christopher P. Boylan, board chairman of Big Apple Greeter, accepted the 2012 award on behalf of the organization and he in turn passed the honor onto the Nieporent brothers. 

"My brother and I are New Yorkers born and bred and hospitality means a lot to us," Tracy Nieporent says of receiving this honor, speaking on behalf of both himself and his brother Drew. "Hospitality is the biggest thing New York offers, and we have spent a lifetime developing and operating restaurants to create meaningful dining experiences for our guests. We are honored to receive this award." 

Also during the event, the New York City Association of Hotel Concierges presented its Rising Star Award, which is given to a new member of the industry and/or a new member of Les Clefs d'Or who exemplifies the organization's motto "Service through Friendship." This individual is also an active member of the New York City Association of Hotel Concierges and has contributed their time to help the association in its initiatives and has made a difference. This year's award went to Keoni Boyer, concierge formerly at The Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park and now at The Lowell

Entertainment for the evening included selections from the best of Broadway's current season, the musicals The Bridges of Madison County and After Midnight. The event also included a charitable Silent Auction-containing almost one hundred luxury items-to benefit the Les Clefs d'Or Foundation, the New York City Association of Hotel Concierges' Charitable Fund, the Hotel Association of New York City Scholarship Fund and Big Apple Greeter.
