The store is a partnership between Where (a member of Morris Media Network) and experienced retail concessionaire Pacific Gateway Concessions. “The new store complements Where magazines, maps and books and the WhereTraveler.com website, all of which are designed to aid travelers with practical information for planning amazing trips,” said Donna Kessler, president of Morris Media Network.
Inside the store, flat-screen televisions play Where videos with travel tips specific to New York and information on other destinations served by JetBlue, New York’s Hometown Airline™.
The Where store was designed with the environment in mind. Instead of selling disposable bottles of water, the store provides a water filling station that offers cool, clean drinking water for free to all T5 visitors. For travelers who want to reduce their own environmental impact, the store sells reusable water bottles decorated with travel themes. The sustainability focus of the WhereTraveler Books + More retail store fits directly with T5, where JetBlue began an innovative composting program this summer.
“Doing what we can to help preserve the environment and create a healthier planet are core pillars of JetBlue's sustainability philosophy. When selecting new stores for our JFK home, we look for partners with similar values. JetBlue and Where have a joint interest in providing sustainable options for our customers both on the ground and in the air,” said Mitch Nadler, director of concessions for JetBlue.
Besides quenching the thirst of world travelers, the Where store offers books, magazines and travel products. In addition to national best sellers, shoppers will find museum-quality books of special interest to New Yorkers and visitors alike. The store carries essentials for today’s traveler, from headphones, chargers and other travel tech devices to conveniences like healthful food items and unique gifts.
In addition to being part of JetBlue’s efforts to bring a shade of “green” to Terminal 5, the Where store is centrally located in T5’s Marketplace, surrounded by a wide selection of shops and restaurants, and adjacent to the stage where JetBlue’s “Live From T5” concerts entertain customers. Recent performances include CeeLo Green, who appeared with Goodie Mob earlier this month, and award-winning artists Phillip Phillips, Emeli Sande, Robyn, Chris Daughtry and Taylor Swift, among others.
