Hotelier and Tourism Guru Recognized for a Lifetime of Achievements
New York (February 9, 2009): On February 2, 2009, MVP/NY, New York City’s leading multimedia provider of visitor information, presented
Jonathan M. Tisch with its venerated
Lifetime Achievement Award as part of the
2008 Hotel Excellence Awards.
Speaking before an audience of more than 500 New York City hospitality professionals (hotel general managers, directors of food and beverage, concierges and press), the CEO of Loews Hotels gave a lively acceptance speech in which he applauded the industry for rallying together during an economically challenging time. Tisch stressed the urgency of continuing to strive toward maintaining New York City’s leadership as the number one destination in the nation that boasted a record 47 million annual visitors in 2008).
With the 2008 Lifetime Achievement Award, Tisch joins a very exclusive club of travel and hospitality giants such as Joseph E. Spinnato (President and CEO of the Hotel Association of New York City), Cristyne Nicholas (the former President of NYC & Company), and last year’s winner, Tom Lewis (President of Gray Line New York Sightseeing), who was also this year’s presenter. Made of beautiful glass that captures the essence of New York City, the award is designed by Robert DuGrenier Associates and adorned with a beautiful crystal heart made by Lalique.
