New York (July 2009): In an exclusive lead article in the July issue, heiress Ivanka Trump reveals her challenges of life in the business world.
"I get up early, go to bed late and am in the office all day Sunday to clear out my inbox," says the elegant New York native. Her drive certainly works for her. She is now a vice president of development and acquisitions at her father’s company, in addition to designing the Ivanka Trump signature jewelry collection sold in her Madison Avenue store.
Although Ivanka led an ordinary-as-possible life as a child, she was not like every other little girl. "I was fascinated by construction and development," she recalls. After following in her mother's footsteps and modeling for several years, Ivanka then followed her father's lead and attended the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, where she graduated summa cum laude.
"Business school teaches you how to approach problems and manage the thought process," she reports. It seems that her training has prepared her well, and from her successes she was able to purchase a $1.5 million apartment on Park Avenue with her own money.
