New York (November 2009): In an exclusive cover story in the November issue of IN New York magazine, Gossip Girl Blake Lively waxes ecstatic about life in New York City's fast lane, while steering clear of celebrity pitfalls.
The blonde Southern California transplant—and star of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants films—has really embraced the challenge of living and surviving New York. "I've always felt, since I was little, that I wanted to be here. It seems like it makes you a stronger, better person."
Lively is no stranger to fashion and style, a central aspect of life in Manhattan. “Just being here in New York City, walking around, you pick it up really quickly…You put on skinny jeans, riding boots and a leather coat, and you take on that posture…" Still, Lively insists she is "very low key," was "raised in a very grounded family" and "was never much of a party girl." What’s a typical night in the Big Apple? "I like to stay home and bake, or just walk arosund the city, so I haven't felt tempted [to hit the party scene]. I want to be more ladylike and classic."
