Yellow cabs with medallions are city-regulated and charge the same rates: $2 for the first 1/5 mile; 30 cents each additional. In slow or stalled traffic, the meter rises 20 cents every 90 seconds. Between 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., there's a 50 cent surcharge.
